An Even Start – National Tuition Program
will assist educationally disadvantaged students who need additional support to acquire satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills. The program will provide tuition in literacy (reading or writing) or numeracy to the value of $700 per child to students who did not meet one of the national reading, writing or numeracy benchmarks in 2007 for years 3, 5 or 7.
A range of public resources are available through the An Even Start Website. The resources provided through this site are aimed at supporting tutors providing tuition under An Even Start – National Tuition Program to students below the national benchmarks for Years 3, 5 and 7 in reading, writing or numeracy. They may also be of use to others who are supporting the learning needs of students who are struggling with literacy or numeracy. Additional resources will be added throughout 2008 as they become available.
