As part of National Literacy and Numeracy week 2011, schools all around Australia took part in National Celebration of Literacy activities, including Read for Australia and Digital Stories!
Read for Australia took place on Wednesday 31 August. Schools all over Australia were invited to bring together students of all ages, teachers and the local community to read together.
Teachers could choose to share and explore the books with their classes before coming together to read or just enjoy reading aloud together. Teachers could have read one of our suggested books, Whoever You Are by Mem Fox or Eric by Shaun Tan, or may have chosen their own.
As well as Read for Australia schools could have chosen to take part in Digital Stories!
Everyone likes to tell a story but why not do it via digital stories? Just 250 words, 10-15 images and 2-3 minutes and schools were on their way with their digital stories.
Digital stories could have been created individually, or in groups.

Registrations have now closed but you can subscribe to receive email updates for National Literacy and Numeracy Week 2012.
