In 2011 we chose three books from The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) shortlist that appealed to all ages.
We recommended the spectacular Mirror by Jeannie Baker for K-8 but in particular for older students because of the complex themes in what might appear to be a simple picture book.
Family Forest was delightful for the early years and beyond, offering lots of opportunities to enjoy the humour or go more deeply into the text.
Early and late primary students enjoyed Violet Mackerel’s Brilliant Plot, another book that works on many levels.
