Terms and Conditions

This lucky draw for participation in national activities Reach for the Stars, Digital Stories and Read for Australia is conducted by the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) (‘the Organiser’) [ABN 76 515 756 909] on behalf of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (‘DEEWR’) as part of National Literacy and Numeracy Week (NLNW) 2011. The Australian Government, through DEEWR, is committed to promoting the importance of literacy and numeracy as fundamental life skills and highlighting effective literacy and numeracy practices on a national scale. NLNW 2011 will be held from 29 August to 4 September.

Sixty-five prizes are being offered for this lucky draw:

Nationally:

Primary schools only eligible:

  • Two (2) Primary DVD Game packs (provided by Eureka Multimedia; value $2500 per pack)

Secondary schools only eligible:

  • Two (2) Secondary DVD Game packs (provided by Eureka Multimedia; value $2500 per pack)

All schools eligible:

  • Two (2) packs of 10 Macquarie Electronic Dictionaries (provided by Franklin Electronics; value $1,299.50 per pack)
  • Three (3) cameras (provided by Nikon; value $949 each)

For each of the eight States or Territories:

All schools eligible:

  • One (1) pack of 10 Macquarie Electronic Dictionaries (provided by Franklin Electronics; value $1,299.50 per pack)

Primary schools only eligible:

  • One (1) Primary DVD Game pack (provided by Eureka Multimedia; value $2500)
  • One (1) Years 3 - 6 Book Pack (provided by Harper Collins; value $285.83)
  • One (1) K - 2 Book Pack (provided by Harper Collins; value $104.95)

Secondary schools only eligible:

  • One (1) Secondary DVD Game pack (provided by Eureka Multimedia; value $2500)
  • One (1) Years 7 - 10 Book Pack (provided by Harper Collins; value $113.93)
  • One (1) Years 7 - 10 Book Pack (provided by Random House; value $90.75)

This lucky draw is subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. Entry is open to all government and non-government pre-schools and schools in Australia catering for students up to Year 12.
     
  2. To be eligible schools must either:

Complete the Reach for the Stars online data submission form on this website http://www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au/reach-stars by 10 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST), 4 September 2011. The online form will be available from 22 August 2011.; or

Register to take part in national activities Digital Stories, or Read for Australia on this website https://registration.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au/ by 10 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST), 4 September 2011.

  1. The Organiser will not accept responsibility for entries that have been submitted, but have not been received by the Organiser.
     
  2. One entry will be included in the draw for each eligible school for each category (primary and/or secondary) for which the school has indicated prizes will be appropriate.
     
  3. The Organiser will not accept responsibility for entries that have indicated an entry into prize categories that are inaccurate for the school concerned.
     
  4. The winners of prizes in the lucky draw will be determined by a random draw to be held at 11am Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) on Thursday 15 September 2011 at the office of AAMT, Ellangowan Education Centre, 80 Payneham Road, STEPNEY SA 5069.
     
  5. The total value of the prize pool is $70 606.00, consisting of $15 446 for the national draw and $55 160 for the combined state and territory draw.
     
  6. The maximum value of prizes in any state or territory (that is, in each of ACT, NSW, NT, Qld, SA, Tas, Vic, WA) is $6 894.96, excluding the value of the national draw.
     
  7. The draw for the National Prizes will be made from a pool including all eligible schools from all states and territories. The first two primary school winners will each receive a Primary DVD Game pack and the first two secondary school winners will each receive a Secondary DVD Game pack. The next two schools drawn will each receive a pack of 10 Macquarie Electronic Dictionaries. The next three schools drawn will each receive a Nikon camera.
     
  8. The draw for the State and Territory Prizes will be made from a pool including all eligible schools from each of the states and territories, excluding any National Prize winners. There will be separate draws for each of the states and territories (that is, in each of ACT, NSW, NT, Qld, SA, Tas, Vic, WA). The first school drawn will receive a pack of 10 Macquarie Electronic Dictionaries. The first primary school winner will receive a Primary DVD Game pack, the second primary school winner will receive a Years 3 - 6 Book Pack and the third primary school winner will receive a K - 2 Book Pack. The first secondary school winner will receive a Secondary DVD Game pack, the second secondary school winner will receive a Years 7 - 10 Book Pack (Harper Collins) and the third secondary school winner will receive a Years 7 - 10 Book Pack (Random House).
     
  9. The winner of each of the lucky draw prizes will be notified by an email message to the email address supplied on the online registration form. A full list of winning schools will be published on www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au and Victorian winners will be published in the public notice section of The Age on Saturday 17 September 2011.
     
  10. The winner of a lucky draw prize must reply to the email message, or contact the NLNW team, GPO Box 9880 CANBERRA ACT 2601 Locn C50MA11, by 5pm AEST, Thursday 15 December 2011 to claim their prize. A redraw will be held for any prizes unclaimed after this time.
     
  11. If required, the redraw for any unclaimed prizes will be held at 11am Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) on Friday 16 December 2011 at the office of AAMT, Ellangowan Education Centre, 80 Payneham Road, STEPNEY SA 5069.
     
  12. The redraw for any unclaimed National Prize will be conducted amongst all eligible schools.
     
  13. The redraw for any unclaimed State or Territory prize will be conducted amongst eligible schools from the same state or territory as the school whose prize was unclaimed.
     
  14. A winning school is not eligible to receive any other NLNW 2011 lucky draw prizes.
     
  15. The prizes cannot be transferred or divided. The prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.
     
  16. The names and postcodes of the winning schools will be published on this website following the conclusion of the draw.
     
  17. The prizes will be dispatched to the winning schools by the prize donors. DEEWR and AAMT take no responsibility for the delivery of the prize.
     
  18. Subject to approval from regulatory authorities, DEEWR may impose any other terms and conditions on the lucky draw.
